I've been super busy

>> Thursday, December 23, 2010

Sorry everyone. I've been really busy. School just sucks all the free time out of my life!! I mean, when I'm not doing school work, I am trying to enjoy some spare time with friends. It helps me to not feel overwhelmed. Anyways, I have a lot of friends there in Memphis. I really love it there. I'm actually home right now on break. It's not too bad. It may be a little boring though. Honestly, I don't have many friends here in Paragould. I would rather just stay in Memphis, but I wasn't able to. The college makes us leave until the 13th of January. I guess I will savor the time I have here to spend with a few friends and with my parents. I wish I would have been able to go to iowa. I really miss all of my family there!! Hopefully I will be able to do that next year. It's just times like this that make me miss everyone in Iowa and Iowa in itself. I feel like I belong there. I will most likely move back there after I graduate college. Anyways, pray for me and my relationship troubles. It seems like every time I start to trust a man, they turn out to only want one thing.... It kind of sucks, but I know God will help me through it. I really really want to find someone. I just keep getting the wrong ones.

Accomplished

>> Wednesday, August 25, 2010

Today I did what I normally do except I didn't have a class until 4:20. I finally allowed myself to wake up late!! I did not get out of bed until 10:00! Thats actually really late compared to the other mornings since I've been here! I went to the Art Center today to get art supplies with Mary and Courtney, my roommates. We all had to spend a tremendous amount of money. It was completely ridiculous. I ended up spending around 110 dollars on art supplies alone. I didn't just get whatever I wanted. I got what was REQUIRED. I just think its crazy how much money you have to pull out of your butt once you start classes. Anyways, when I got back I realized that I had to turn my work study in today before 4:30, so I had to rush over to the college. I ended up walking all the way there. It was quite a power walk. I got into my mail and filled out my work study form. Then I walked over to the administration building which is not exactly close in walking distance perspective. I turned in my work study, paid my housing for september, and filled out my form to work out at the French Riviera Spa. Its basically a gym. Then I walked all the way back to the dorms. That all together took me about an hour to do! By the time I got back, I only had an hour before class started. I went to class and got back around 6:00 tonight. Then I worked on homework until 11:00ish. Wow. I still have a lot to do on that project! Hopefully it's worthwhile in the end, because I feel like I'm over-achieving on what should be a simpler assignment. Anyways, I am off to bed because I am completely exhausted and want to get up early tomorrow and work on homework again!

First Day of Actual Class!

>> Monday, August 23, 2010

This morning I woke up around 7:00. I had my first class at 9:00. I was soooo nervous. Mostly, I was just worried that I would not get to class on time or be able to find the classroom. I ended up being able to find it fine. We got out of the class early because we needed to get materials, so we could move on with the assignment. The actual professor was very sick. His back was in so much pain that he was in the hospital and could not make it. One of the other professors taught the 2-D class today. I came back to the apartment around 10:30. I tried to gather all of the materials I would need to get back to class at 1:00. The guy finally came to fix our dryer today while I was on break! Thank God! I can finally do my laundry! Oh also, I had to stand outside of our dorms for 10 minutes because my ID wasn't working to open the gate! I had to call Mary, one of my roommates, to come open it for me. I then found out that the school IDs do not open the dorm gates, just the actual college doors. I took the shuttle bus around 12:30 to head back to the college. During the rest of the 2-D class, we were shown examples and given an assignment which will be due next Monday. I'm pretty confident that I can do it. I just am stressed out about all the hard earned money my parents have to pay for all of the supplies. I mean, it's kind of ridiculous that I have to pay so much for housing and tuition and then another 500 on books and then on top of that somewhere around 100 for more art supplies! It's just crazy and makes me feel guilty even though I know I really shouldn't feel that way. Anyways I had writing class today as well which actually went pretty good. I like the professor. He's really nice and funny in a clean comedy sense. He seems like he is a very good teacher. I really hope he can help me with my writing skills. I'm kind of lacking in that area. Not so much the grammar aspect as much as the right word usage. I have to buy a few more books though so I honestly don't know how I am going to get them anytime soon because I don't have a ride to any store. I feel bad asking my roommate to take me places all the time because she has her own life and schedule and I respect that. I hope I can find a way to get the things I need soon. Anyways, I didn't do much after I got back. I watched a show with Mary called the bachelor pad which looks really funny. People are so dramatic over the stupidest things. It's actually really entertaining. Off to bed now! Oh and the pic is of me and my school ID. Nooooot the best picture.

Today was the last day of orientation. This morning my roommate woke me up at around 6:00. We decided the night before that we wanted to go jogging in the morning. It was crazy humid outside. I felt like I could barely breathe. I am really not used to running outdoors and also on an incline. I usually jog in place for around 15 minutes a day which is the equivalency of about 2 miles. Needless to say, I was so worn out by the time I got back to the room. It was so bad that I almost passed out. I don't think ill be running outside anytime soon. My class was drawing today. We did a still life. It was kind of frustrating for me because I started out drawing really small, so I had to literally add almost everything in front of me when I was only supposed to pick two or three objects to focus on and make a nice composition out of it. I guess I am just not used to that size of paper. It was a lot bigger than what I am used to. I also hate being limited to a certain amount of time, but the professor didn't want us to make art, just learn about common misconceptions and mistakes made by beginner artists. It actually really helped. I thought I would take criticism a lot worse, but it really wasn't that bad. I hate being the center of attention during class though so that was sort of embarrassing for me. After lunch we received our IDs, which mine did not turn out so pretty. I mean it wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't the best picture of me. School pictures never turn out good for me. They never have. Okay, maybe my senior year and my freshman year were good pictures but all the ones in between and before were terrible too. I came back afterwards and took a long and awesome nap until around 5:00ish and then hung out with the roomies in the living room. I had an amazing bowl of tomato soup which burnt my tongue. It was still awesome though. I just took a shower and now I'm about to go to sleep because I have my first class tomorrow!! I'm soooo nervous right now! I hope I do okay! PRAY FOR ME! :]

Saturday the 20th?

>> Saturday, August 21, 2010

Last night my roommates and I went to target and got a few things. We got back and basically all of us went to our own rooms. At this point, I crashed. I was exhausted. I've been feeling that way a lot lately. This morning I, yet again, woke up at around 6:00. I think God wanted me to get up because he made me look for my phone to see what time it was. I ended up misplacing it and it took me like 10 minutes to find it. It was in the crack of my bed. By that time, I told myself that I might as well just stay up and get ready, so I did. Today in class we learned about safety and security issues and got our picture taken for IDs which I guess were getting tomorrow. We also went to a Art History lecture which was surprisingly interesting. I enjoyed it. When we came back to the suite, I crashed again and slept until 5:30. I really needed it because I had forgotten to take my medicine this morning, so I was exhausted yet again. I did take them before i took a nap, but I was still tired. Anyways, after that I exercised and took a shower. I hung out with the roomies for awhile and now I'm in my room. I'm so greatful that my parents bought me this MacBook. It's so awesome. I absolutely love it. Hands down the best computer ever! :]

First Day of Orientation

>> Friday, August 20, 2010

Okay, so last night my roommates and I all watched the movie I Love You, Man. I had already seen it before, but it was still funny. We also discovered last night that our ice machine, air conditioning in one room, and dryer currently don't work! I have no idea how I am going to get my clothes washed. I tried to email the people about it, but they haven't written back to me yet. This morning was another early start. I could not sleep after 6:30. I got ready and made myself a smoothie. All of us rode over to the college with Mary. I had to go to a writing class for orientation today. We basically just went to the library and picked an artistic related topic to research and then typed a paper on it in the computer lab. I did my paper on an impressionist painting by Edgar Degas. We had to share our findings out loud. I am a really bad at speeches or talking in front of a group in general. I was so nervous and my voice was very very shaky. It was quite embarassing and my cheeks definitely turned red. I could feel them burning. After that, we had taco salads for lunch. It was pretty good. They were sort of greasy, but I ate them anyways. After lunch, I went to a time-saving class about (couldn't you guess) managing my time! It was a bunch of crap about how to manage our time. I already manage my time moderately well, so I didn't really care about what she had to say. I did listen though because it was required. Next we went to a technology information class. The lady who was teaching it was in her late 20's or early 30's. She was so ridiculous. Every other word out of her mouth was a cuss word and she made dirty jokes to keep everyone entertained i'm assuming. It was very non-professional, but she did teach us a few things about Mac computer's that I didn't know yet. I am thankful for her help, but I think she obviously could have approached it in a different manner. Anyways, I'm back now and probably going to take a nap. Later I'll be heading to Target for a few things with the roomies. :]

Ciao
