First Day of Orientation

>> Friday, August 20, 2010

Okay, so last night my roommates and I all watched the movie I Love You, Man. I had already seen it before, but it was still funny. We also discovered last night that our ice machine, air conditioning in one room, and dryer currently don't work! I have no idea how I am going to get my clothes washed. I tried to email the people about it, but they haven't written back to me yet. This morning was another early start. I could not sleep after 6:30. I got ready and made myself a smoothie. All of us rode over to the college with Mary. I had to go to a writing class for orientation today. We basically just went to the library and picked an artistic related topic to research and then typed a paper on it in the computer lab. I did my paper on an impressionist painting by Edgar Degas. We had to share our findings out loud. I am a really bad at speeches or talking in front of a group in general. I was so nervous and my voice was very very shaky. It was quite embarassing and my cheeks definitely turned red. I could feel them burning. After that, we had taco salads for lunch. It was pretty good. They were sort of greasy, but I ate them anyways. After lunch, I went to a time-saving class about (couldn't you guess) managing my time! It was a bunch of crap about how to manage our time. I already manage my time moderately well, so I didn't really care about what she had to say. I did listen though because it was required. Next we went to a technology information class. The lady who was teaching it was in her late 20's or early 30's. She was so ridiculous. Every other word out of her mouth was a cuss word and she made dirty jokes to keep everyone entertained i'm assuming. It was very non-professional, but she did teach us a few things about Mac computer's that I didn't know yet. I am thankful for her help, but I think she obviously could have approached it in a different manner. Anyways, I'm back now and probably going to take a nap. Later I'll be heading to Target for a few things with the roomies. :]

Ciao

No wonder we couldn't make ice the other day. I bet a neighbor would let you borrow their dryer - hopefully the washer works - hang em all up. Managing time - yes but I bet you learned at least one thing out of there - lol. That doesn't sound real professional but college is a very different road - stay focused on your faith. I'm sure you did fine at your speech - it is nerve racking though - it will get easier. Have fun tonight and enjoy your evening. I love you!! Mom
